I worked at heron island for nearly 2 years, and after living there for that period of time, it always amazed me how wonderful, and magical it was everyday not just from sunrise to sunset but every night as well, if it wasnt the reef and pristine clear waters or the whales going by in winter, it was going with the national parks and looking for nesting turtles to measure and tag, even lunch time cocktails at the bar was fun. I have been back on numerous occasions, and i still have frequent thought of this magical place, and i can not wait to return in the near future!

My wife and I recently returned from Heron Island and had a ball. We didn't think we would become avid snorkellers, but we did. The amount of coral and wildlife in the water just off the beach is amazing. We are thinking of getting our PADI certificate and coming back. Thank You.

Merrilee and I couldn't wait to tell you how much we and our family enjoyed our week on Heron Island. It's a magic place. The beachside rooms were marvellous, so well situated, so well designed. (thank you so much for the upgrade!). The food was a revelation - enormous choice, no signs of skimping with the supplies being constantly topped up. We couldn't get over the seafood nights - I've never seen such an abundance of first class seafood. Staff were universally welcoming  and helpful - from cleaners to waiters and your front office staff.  Despite its small size, the island never seemed crowded, you could always be alone or with just a handful of others if you wanted to. The island is so beautiful, wonderful scenery, crystal clear waters, just magic. We snorkelled to our hearts' content and saw wonderful sealife- turtles, rays, sharks but always felt safe. We have been to the Reef before (including Lizard Island) but rate Heron as our best experience. Our grandson and his mate had planned to take two dive trips - they ended up taking five because the experience was so fantastic. We were all very sad to leave but have vowed to come again. I should add that Merrilee and I were delighted to meet you and were hugely impressed with your hands-on management style.

We visited this magical little place for the second time in December 2009. It is truly magical with good staff, clean and confortable rooms and superb food. For us, what sets Heron Island apart from anywhere else is the turtles. To be able to see these amazing animals coming up the beach to lay their eggs is a privilege and a memory that will stay with us as long as we live. We can't wait to return - it's just a shame it's so far away !

Coming from the depths of a Mid - Western winter to a stunning Summer Down-Under was amazing in itself. But visiting Heron Island and seeing so much wildlife was the thing really made our trip, we certainly have nothing like that back here at home. The little turtles were just soooo cute! We’d like to say a big thank you to all our new Aussie ‘mates’ on Heron for making our stay so memorable.

It’s always a pleasant surprise these days to find staff that are relaxed and ‘laid-back’ without being sloppy and a little lazy. The staff at Heron Island were just that. Always a smile and never a problem. Don’t let them go.
