The First Step

Your initial enquires about organising your wedding at Heron Island can be made through the Heron Island Wedding Department based in Melbourne. The Wedding Department will assist in organising your wedding package and any guest requirements relating to accommodation, flights and transfers. Once the accommodation, wedding package and celebrant have been booked, your details will be forwarded to the Wedding Coordinator at Heron Island.

The Wedding Coordinator will contact you for the #ner details and arrangements regarding the ceremony and your special day. A personalised booking form will be created for you to distribute to your guests, with details on how to book accommodation and transfers. The form includes details for the Travel Centre which manages guest accommodation and transfers.

Your Location

Heron Island is the perfect setting on the Great Barrier Reef for a wedding celebration of just two or up to 250 guests. No matter what the size of your celebration, we offer personal service and attention to detail.

Where Do We Hold Our Ceremony?

Upon arrival at Heron Island the resort Wedding Coordinator will show you the different sites and help you to choose your ceremony location. For a unique ceremony experience, you can exchange your vows on a number of different soft white-powder sand beaches located around Heron Island. If you are planning a beach ceremony, please notify us at least one week before arrival. Alternatively, if you prefer a garden wedding with an ocean view, then the resort itself is a perfect location for your special day.

Getting There

Heron Island Resort lies on the Tropic of Capricorn, 72 kilometres off the Queensland coast NE of Gladstone. Regular flights to Gladstone are available from both Brisbane and Cairns. Qantas flies to Brisbane and Cairns from all capital cities. Once at Gladstone, you have a choice of transfer options to get to Heron Island itself. You can transfer to Heron Island from Gladstone by boat, or view the spectacular reef by helicopter transfer.

By distributing your invitations well in advance, your guests can easily make arrangements to book accommodation through the Reservations Team.
